It's 2022. Our vision is a healthy planet

Do you want to make a New Year's resolution that has the potential to not only change your life, but the world too? If so, we have the perfect idea for you! This year we're supporting Veganuary to help hundreds of thousands of people try a vegan diet this January.

Almost one million people have previously taken part - trying a vegan diet in January to reduce their environmental footprint, protect animals and improve their health. You'll receive helpful tips, resources, advice and support to make the transition to a plant-based diet easy and fun! And best of all – Veganuary is free for anyone to take part in!

Choosing plant-based is the most effective way to reduce our environmental footprint, according to recent research from Oxford UniversityAdopting a plant-based diet is not only better for the animals and the planet, it is also better for us. Research has repeatedly shown that vegans have reduced risk of the world’s biggest killers, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and some cancers, while diets high in animal products are linked to a host of health problems.

WHAT IS VEGANUARY?

WHAT IS VEGAN?

Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.

There are many ways to embrace vegan living. Yet one thing all vegans have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey - as well as avoiding animal-derived materials, products tested on animals and places that use animals for entertainment.

3 REASONS TO CHOOSE VEGAN

1. It's Better for the Environment

Going vegan and opting for planet-friendly foods and sustainable plant-based proteins is a great way to help the environment. According to Oxford University research, going vegan is the easiest and most effective way each of us can help protect our planet.

Animal agriculture is a leading driver of deforestation, which in turn is a key cause of biodiversity loss. It is also one of the biggest polluters, contributing to ocean dead zones and algal blooms. Animal agriculture also creates more climate-changing emissions than the fuel from our entire global transport system. That’s right. Animal products can be more damaging than every train, plane, car, bus and ship on Earth.

2. It Could Improve Your Health

Research shows that vegans suffer less from heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. And many of the participants report other benefits too, from clearer skin to better sleep to having more energy!

3. It's Delicious

The planet-based revolution means there are more vegan options available than ever before, so you don’t need to miss out on your favourite foods when going vegan - just opt for the plant-based alternatives! Check out https://veganuary.com/recipes/ for loads of recipe inspiration.
